About The Project

The Gold Gear Project was created as a Girl Scout Gold Award. For Girl Scouts the Gold Award is the highest award that can be achieved. The Gold Award focuses on making the world around us a better place through the projects that Girl Scouts create and pursue. The Gold Award not only focuses on having a strong impact but also having a positive lasting affect on communities.

I designed the Gold Gear Project idea with the desire to create economic inclusion, specifically in sports. My hope is by the successfulness of this project that no child will be held back by economic limitations.

About Me

Elizabeth Craig

I have been a part of Girl Scouts throughout my life, first as a Brownie and then again when I rejoined as a Juliette in 2012. During 2012 and 2013 I worked on and completed my Girl Scout Silver Award with two of my friends. The project that we created was Silver Stories; the project connected senior members of the community with their friends and family by sharing their life stories through photos. We designed a 6 session workshop, during which the participants created a scrapbook which they filled with memories. My current project follows along similar lines, with the focus on connecting members in our community. Yet this time, with my Gold award, my focus is on the younger generation. This project is important to me due to the positive effect sports have had in my life.
